A Milan Expo pavilion every day | Day 48: China Corporate United Pavilion

China has not one but three pavilions at the 2015 Milan Expo; the first representing China itself, the second the Vanke Pavilion, and the third, the China Corporate United Pavilion, designed by the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University Ltd. This pavilion is all about entrepreneurial spirit, tied in with conservation of natural resources and food security. There are various exhibition spaces, each with a different theme, including “Cycle of Life” and “The Culinary Arts”, each of which shows the path of growth of business in China, showing off Chinese companies which represent China’s progress in business. The exterior of the structure, in a white translucent material, was designed with the idea of yin and yang in mind, while the inside takes “the shape of life” as its inspiration. Inspired by the concept of seeds and growth, the pavilion has a walkway in the form of a DNA chain spiral, an Italian-Chinese garden and terrace, and an elliptical green core in the centre. The pavilion has a very natural feel as it’s full of natural light and air, as well as plants, and offers visitors an exhibition hall, auditorium, restaurant and gift shop, all showing off the unique charm of Chinese enterprises, the history of some brands, and the Chinese philosophy of harmony between man and nature.
