A Milan Expo pavilion every day | Day 88: Save the Children

International organisation Save the Children has set up an experiential village at Expo where visitors learn about the charity’s work in a rather unusual way. When they enter, the visitor becomes the “twin” of one of the children who benefits from the organisation’s work, and they then follow the journey of this child and learn about his or her daily challenges through interactive, digital and analogue installations. This concept was designed to make people feel more personally linked to disadvantaged people around the world and to consider how different their life could have been if they were born in the place of their “twin”. The village, its design inspired by the traditional buildings in the countries in which Save the Children operates, is made from wood and recycled materials and features a garden. Over the course of Expo, Save the Children is running activities, workshops and courses for the public to learn more about malnutrition and agricultural development.
