Slovakian studio MEJD has designed a lamp with adjustable brightness, only on this lamp the usual dimmer switch is nowhere to be found. Instead, the designers, Štefan Nosko and Katarína Beličková, have gone back to the principal of a simple wooden handle mechanism which allows the bulb to be drawn up or down like the bucket in a well. The lower the bulb hangs, the dimmer the light becomes as the glass container is transparent at the top and becomes gradually matte towards the bottom. The lamp comes in two colours – matte and blue – and is a beautiful piece of design thanks to its relative simplicity and return to traditional concepts.
